In fact, it\u2019s just the beginning. Now you need to do the hard work to make sure your messages are convincing.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"vce-text-block\"><div class=\"vce-text-block-wrapper vce\" id=\"el-a5aba2bd\" data-vce-do-apply=\"all el-a5aba2bd\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-style: normal;\">Investors and VC funds are busy, so we have to come prepared. We need to have clear messages and a presentation that tells our story well.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vce-text-block\"><div class=\"vce-text-block-wrapper vce\" id=\"el-e4a5d7ce\" data-vce-do-apply=\"all el-e4a5d7ce\"><h3 style=\"line-height: 1;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>How do we do this?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vce-text-block\"><div class=\"vce-text-block-wrapper vce\" id=\"el-eb72620f\" data-vce-do-apply=\"all el-eb72620f\"><p>First, we need to set a specific goal for the meeting. The goal should be realistic and measurable. Broad goals like \"closing a deal\" aren't good; they're too vague. It\u2019s not realistic to expect that after one meeting you\u2019ll secure the funding. You\u2019ll probably need several more, more nuanced and detailed meetings. Simply put, you should aim to get a second meeting to keep things moving forward (or in other words: your goal is to get a second meeting).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"vce-text-block\"><div class=\"vce-text-block-wrapper vce\" id=\"el-ef76a945\" data-vce-do-apply=\"all el-ef76a945\"><p>If we succeed in getting that second meeting, we'll need to set another specific goal for that meeting \u2013 and so on. Until we either score the investment (yay!) or get a final no and move on.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"vce-text-block\"><div class=\"vce-text-block-wrapper vce\" id=\"el-0f711576\" data-vce-do-apply=\"all el-0f711576\"><h3 style=\"line-height: 1;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>What messages should we share in the first meeting with investors?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"vce-text-block\"><div class=\"vce-text-block-wrapper vce\" id=\"el-6e6da05c\" data-vce-do-apply=\"all el-6e6da05c\"><p>To get a second meeting, we must know what will interest the investor. But not just interest, they need to feel safe and secure \u2013 in you, your company, and your technology. Sadly, there\u2019s no silver bullet but after working with hundreds of entrepreneurs, we've found 3 key messages:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"vce-text-block\"><div class=\"vce-text-block-wrapper vce\" id=\"el-c357de60\" data-vce-do-apply=\"all el-c357de60\"><ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: 500;\">You can trust us<\/span> \u2013 Show the investors why you\u2019re trustworthy and that you know what you\u2019re doing. Explain why, where and how you can be trusted.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: 500;\">We have a solution &amp; people are willing to pay for it<\/span> \u2013 Present a unique solution to a big market problem. Why is your product essential to solving these needs, and are people willing to pay for such a solution?<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: 500;\">We know how to make money for our product<\/span> \u2013 Explain how we'll make money from our solution. Show the investor how their money will not only be safe but could also grow significantly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"vce-text-block\"><div class=\"vce-text-block-wrapper vce\" id=\"el-aec47a34\" data-vce-do-apply=\"all el-aec47a34\"><p>These are the questions we\u2019ll use as a basis for our presentation \u2013 our presentation is designed to answer these questions. All the charts, data, and stories should support these points. If something doesn't help answer these questions, it might not belong in the presentation. Remember, we're not just talking about our tech, market size, team, competitors, or business plan.
